Lawrence A. “Larry” Collins, age 84, of Lansdale died June 14th at Abington Health Lansdale Hospital.
Born in Mahanoy Plane, he was the son of the late John Patrick and Catherine Collins.
Larry has been a resident at St. Mary Manor, Lansdale for 10 years.
He served in the US Army in Korea during the war as a cook.
Larry worked for the Reading Railroad for 35 years as a conductor on the Lansdale Philadelphia line.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lansdale where he volunteered as a bingo worker and summer festival worker and served as an usher. He was also active in the Lansdale Catholic High School Fathers Club and Pius 9th Council, Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Rose Marie Rowley Collins, on May 29, 2003.
Surviving are his four sons Dr. Lawrence J. Collins and his wife Jessica of Sewickley, PA., John P. Collins and his wife Patti of Laurel, MD, Owen G. Collins of Philadelphia and Daniel B. Collins and his wife Debbie of Schwenksville and his daughter Deborah Patton and her husband Geoff of Harleysville and six grandchildren John Parc, Rosie, Max, Alysia, Alexa and Cecily.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday evening from 6 to 8PM and Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30AM at the Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St., Lansdale and to attend his Funeral Mass Tuesday at 10AM at St. Stanislaus Church, Lansdale. Interment St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
