John M. MacDonald, III, age 65, a longtime resident of Montgomery Township passed away on Monday, November 6, with his wife and daughter by his side.
Born in the East Falls section of Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John M. and Marie E. (nee Head) MacDonald, Jr. He worked as a master carpenter and construction manager for many years.
Mr. MacDonald was an avid golfer and had great affection for his golden retrievers. His greatest love in life was for his family.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Marianne (nee Markey) MacDonald, his cherished daughter, Beth Zehren and her husband Rich of Conshohocken, his dear grandson, Carter, and a beloved sister, Liz Molineaux and her husband, Rick, of Medford, NJ. He also is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Susan Bridgeman.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales (in Montgomery Twp.) 19454, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m., before Mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Conshohocken. My heart is deeply saddened. I just came across this. If I had known, I would have attended services. John and I worked together at Woods for almost seven years and we became great friends throughout that time. It was amazing to watch him talk about you, Marianne, and Beth. He used to call his Friday nights – date nights with Beth when she was little then, when he and Beth would both play Candyland and bake. He so looked forward to that. You could see his eyes just glisten. You can be sure that he loved you all more than his own life and wanted all the good things to be yours. I had tried to get in touch on many occasions and wondered why there was no response back, but I finally was in touch with someone who told me how sick John was. Marianne, I know how hard this is as I went through this with my Dad and I want you to know that I prayed for you and your family every day. If you need an ear, please know I am here for you. I just found out about John passing away. Worked with John for 9 years at Woods, learned a lot and credit him for my success in facilities and construction. My prayers are with you.
