Anna Elizabeth Birtwistle, 97, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at Saint Joseph Villa on February 12, 2018. Born on October 16, 1920 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Anna and Joseph McAnulty.
Beloved wife of the late Edward William Birtwistle, Anna is survived by her three children: Sister Margaret Anne Birtwistle, a Sister of Saint Joseph, Edward Birtwistle and his wife Rosemary, Margaret Lorden and her husband, Raymond. Anna was the dear grandmother of her six grandchildren: Raymond Lorden, Jr. and his wife Karen, Edward Lorden and his wife, Pamela, Megan Donahue and her husband Tim, Sean Birtwistle, Michael Birtwistle and Bridget Birtwistle. Her great-granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Donahue will miss her beloved “B.”
Anna is also survived by many relatives and friends whom she loved and enjoyed. Anna celebrated life everyday with her contented nature, her welcoming spirit, and her gracious and grateful attitude. She treasured many memories of family, friends, summers in Wildwood, and snow days with her kids.
We are grateful for all the life lessons Anna gave us, and we extend our deep gratitude to the staff and sisters at Saint Joseph Villa for the compassionate care given to Anna.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Saint Joseph Villa, 110 W. Wissahickon Avenue, Flourtown, PA 19031. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM. Interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anna’s honor to Saint Joseph Villa.
