Josephine Carione Florentino—3/11/2018

Josephine Carione Florentino, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Lansdale Hospital.

Josephine, or Jo as her friends called her, was born in Norwich, CT and attended Broadway Catholic School. At the age of twelve she moved to Brooklyn with her two sisters and her brother. At the age of eighteen she moved to Pennsylvania and shortly thereafter met her husband, John Florentino. They were married at St. Bernadettes in Brooklyn on December 7, 1946.  Together they had four children and built a life in Lansdale, PA.

Josephine served her community as a crossing guard at Line Street Elementary School, a convenient store owner on 5th Street and a front desk employee at the NP Senior Center where she retired at the age of 84 after working for 26 years.

Josephine is most known for her loving heart, her crafty fingers and her sense of humor.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking and crocheting. She will be dearly missed by friends and family but we know she is at peace and in the arms of those she has missed for so long.

Josephine is survived by her children Maryellen Salerno, John Florentino, Joanne (Paul) Angelillis and Tina Logue along with 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and countless extended family and friends.

A private ceremony for family to celebrate the life of Josephine will be held on Monday, March 19th at 11:00a.m at Simcox-Mcllvaine Funeral Home, 532 E Main Street, Lansdale, PA. with receiving time from 10 to 11 AM.Interment to follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Cemetery.

  1. Dear Family,

We were so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing.
I had the chance to sit down with her at Elm Terrace (and heard all about
family members she loved deeply) and with her sense of humor we had some laughs. Also fun times at NP Senior Center where we talked about “food and recipes.”
I believe she was blessed and had all the secrets that comes with living a long-life.
    May she RIP.

  2. Josie was a wonderful lady. Always so much fun to be around. She was one of my mom’s best friends. The two of them used to have a lot of fun together. They both had such a great sense of humor. I will miss her and cherish the memory of her forever.

  3. Josephine will be missed, I know she was a generous person with the way she gave to all of us freely with her most precious gems – the riches held in her heart. She didn’t have to give so much or look at things so positively, but that’s who she was. Hope to see you again Mom when it’s my time to go.
