Helen T. Bolacker–10/27/2018

Helen T. Bolacker (Tierney) of Hatfield, PA passed away on October 27, 2018 at Elm Terrace Gardens in Lansdale, surrounded by the love of her family.  The eldest of six children, she was born in Pawtucket, R.I. on July 12, 1921 to Florentina (Rovelto) and Philip Tierney.

The family’s beloved matriarch, she lived a life dedicated to her faith, family and country.  A role model to all who knew her, she lived life with quiet dignity and a deep abiding faith.  During her lifetime of 97 years she served others with her kindness and wisdom.  She was selfless in her nature, always compassionate to others, which was inspiring to all who knew her, especially her daughters.

Helen was a marvel at caring for her home and her family and took great pleasure in it.  She made and served wonderful cakes, pies and desserts especially during holidays.  Braided Easter bread and chocolate cream pie were always favorites.  A talented self-taught seamstress, she took great pleasure in making beautiful prom gowns and outfits for her three daughters.  Helen was a dedicated prayer warrior who lifted up many intentions to Our Lord for family and friends.

Helen was married for 60 years to her beloved late husband, Joseph S. Bolacker.  Prior to their marriage in 1945, Helen and Joe served their country during WWII.  Helen worked in a munition plant and Joe enlisted in the Navy and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Campaigns.  Vacationing on Cape Cod and the New England coast as well as visiting extended family, were happy past times in their later years.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy and she loved spending time with them.

Helen was preceded in death by her sisters May Emma and Alice and her twin brothers, Philip and William. She is survived by her brother Robert F. Tierney and his wife Corrine.  She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Lorraine Biffar (Stephen), Nancy Boak (Ronald) and Dolores Delaney (Thomas), her six grandchildren, Brian Delaney, Suzanne Grocholski, Anne Park, David Biffar, Karen Kennedy, Lauren Jardine and nine great-grandchildren Brian, Jake, Emily, Alex, Connor, Dylan, Andrew, Aiden and Mitchell. There are many nephews, nieces and cousins who will remember her fondly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 11:00 AM, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in Church prior to Mass. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ on Monday, November 5, 2018.
