Gennaro (Jerry) Stabile—9/11/2018

Gennaro (Jerry) Stabile passed away on September 11, 2018 at St. Mary Manor Lansdale, where he had been a resident for six and a half years. A Mass honoring Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, September 14 at 11 AM, at St. Mary Manor Chapel, 701 Lansdale, Ave, Lansdale PA. Visitation will begin at 10 AM that day.

Born in Philadelphia on Feb. 20, 1924, Jerry resided in South Philadelphia until Dec. 1965, when he moved his family to Lansdale to be closer to his job at Merck. After retiring from Merck, Jerry worked for a number of years at Clemens supermarket in Lansdale.

Jerry enjoyed bowling, golfing, and watching Philadelphia sports team, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his beloved family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Betty, who died in 1993, and a son Gerald, who was stillborn. He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Sanna and her husband Thomas of North Wales; son, Joseph and his wife Kathleen of Hatfield; and five grandchildren, Michael Stabile of Perkasie; Michael Sanna and his wife Michelle of Lansdale; Katie Slachta and her husband John of East Norriton; Jaclyn Piper and her husband Ted of Lansdale; and Matthew Stabile of Perkasie. He was also fortunate enough to have three great grandchildren; his namesake Gennaro (Geno) Sanna, aged 2 ½; Elliot (Ellie) Piper, aged 2 ½; and Alex Slachta, aged 2. He also has two unborn great grandchildren, Baby Piper who will arrive September 17 and Baby Girl Slachta, who will is due to arrive mid-September.

Jerry will be sadly missed by his family, who loved him dearly. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jerry’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
