Frances Mary Tomassini, 92, formerly of Endwell, N.Y. passed peacefully on January 29, 2019 at Suburban Community Hospital. She moved to East Norriton, PA in 2013, and her final residence was at Brightview Senior Living.
Frances was born in Buffalo, NY on May 24, 1926, to parents Josephine (deceased) and Victor (deceased) Mistretta, who settled in Buffalo to raise their family. Frances enjoyed growing up with three loving brothers and their long-term, endearing relationships, preceded in death by brothers Salvatore and Victor Mistretta, and survived by brother Anthony Mistretta. They built a strong foundation for the Mistretta family which now extends into 3 generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and cousins.
Frances attended Nardin Academy in Buffalo where she excelled in academics, and after working at Victor Catering Company, she married Emanuel Victor Tomassini (deceased) of Utica, NY on September 10, 1949. They moved to Endicott, NY, where they provided a wonderful family environment and upbringing for their children and were married for more than 50 years prior to Emanuel’s death in 2000. Frances is the beloved mother of her four children and their spouses, Robert (Irene) of Vestal, NY, Joanne (Robert Lynch) of Lower Gwynedd, PA, William (Gail) of Savannah, GA. and Janine (Stephen Keller) of Collegeville, PA. She is also lovingly survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
Frances and Emanuel were founding members of Christ the King Church in Endwell NY in 1950, and faithfully volunteered their time to support the church as well as became Eucharistic Ministers. Frances was a long-time member of the church’s Women’s Guild. She was also an active member and officer of the PTA and various committees for the schools her children attended, and a volunteer for several children’s activities in the community, and the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association. Frances was a wonderful, compassionate faith-filled woman who touched the lives of everyone that she met through her kind and caring spirit. She will be dearly missed by all.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brightview Senior Living and her personal aides for their excellent care of Frances over the last five years.
In lieu of services at this time, the family will be planning a celebration of life in May of 2019 in Endwell, NY. Details to follow for family and friends of Frances.
Mom lived a wonderful life from her childhood in Buffalo, to being a great loving mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was passionate about her family, her relatives, her heritage, and was a friend to all. She always had a smile on her face and lived her Christian faith and the golden rule. Mom, dad, and their generation of family relatives gave us the gift of life, but also the secret to how to live a good life and build the future for our families. For that, we are grateful. We will miss you everyday mom. Until we meet again, may you rest in peace.
