Sylvia is survived by her seven children, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grand-children and one great-great grandchild. Sylvia was born on February 26th, 1929 in Spring Lake, New Jersey. Her parents were Earl Sr. and Madeline Lansing. Her four siblings, all of whom preceded her in death were Earl Jr. (Sonny), Jack, James, and Marjorie.
In her early childhood, she learned to play the piano, and was a child singer who performed on the Steel Pier with Shirley Temple and auditioned in Carnegie Hall. After graduating from Manasquan High School, she entered the nursing program at Osteopathic Hospital in Philadelphia and began her nursing career. She married Thomas Edward Strayer in 1948 and the couple went on to have seven children, Linda, Kathy, Gini, Maryellen, Maureen, Donna and Tom. In 1977, her beloved Ed was diagnosed with a terminal illness to which he lost the battle in 1979.
Sylvia later remarried Francis (Frank) Creighton where she enjoyed extending her family life to include Frank’s son Ken Creighton, along with his wife Doreen and their three children Tim, Emily and Ben. Frank sadly passed away on December 11th, 1995. Sylvia was the matriarch of her family and her children’s very best friend. She was kind, gentle and carried joy wherever she went. She held each one all together in her heart and will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched and who loved her so very much.

Sylvia was a lovely woman, full of life, joy and peace. She laughed with those who laughed and cried with those in sorrow. She felt so deeply for everyone and cared so much for all she loved and knew. Because of her long and precious life, the world is a far, far better place. Thank you dear Sylvia for all that you have given; for all that you are; for all that you have bestowed on this world. You will be greatly missed.
A very beautiful obituary about, no doubt, a very beautiful person. Sincere sympathy to her loving family. We will be very close to you all in spirit especially on Saturday 31st August. May Sylvia rest in Peace.
