Thomas John Concannon (Tom), 80 of Philadelphia, PA (Tacony and Grays Ferry) currently of Lansdale, PA passed away peacefully at home October 29, 2019.
Tom was born at Philadelphia General Hospital on August 26, 1939, the son of Irish immigrants Margaret (nee. Gallagher) and Martin Concannon. He was the youngest of 5 siblings – 3 sisters Helen, Anne, and Mary and 1 brother Martin(Bud).
Tom graduated St Gabriel’s Catholic School and Bishop Neumann Catholic High School (Class of 1957). He worked diligently to put himself through night school and graduated, with honors from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business and was awarded an Associates Degree.
His career included positions in banking and insurance before he began his profession as a paralegal for the Office of the Philadelphia District Attorney.
He married his sweetheart on May 17,1969. They then began a 50+ year journey together. Tom’s proudest achievement was his beloved family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen (nee. Burke); their 5 children-Thomas J, Jr.; Dorothy (Stefan) Matalia, Mary Ellen McCullagh, Marjorie (Joseph) O’Brien, and Martin; and 7 grand children – Joseph, Kerry, Emma, Cailyn, Liam, Grant, and Kelsey. Also survived by his sister, Anne Moore.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 5 2019 at 11 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA where the family will receive friends and relatives from 9 AM to 11 AM in Church before Mass. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 3301 W. Cheltenham Avenue, Phila PA 19150.
