Mary Josephine Teller–5/2/2020

Mary Josephine “Josie, MJ, Tootsie and Baby Nan” (nee. DeGenova) Teller, age 90, of Lansdale died peacefully, Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Abington Lansdale Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Cape May Court House, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Gennaro and Stella (nee. Mazzotta) DeGenova.

She graduated from Middle Township High School in 1947 and Immaculata College in 1951 with a BS in Business Education and a Minor in Economics. On June 14, 1952 she married her husband, Martin P. Teller, at the Church of St. Paul in Stone Harbor. After raising her three sons, she worked as a nursery school teacher for ten years and then at North Penn Hospital’s snack shop, where she enjoyed socializing with patients and staff. She reluctantly retired at 82 from North Montco Technical Career Center after 35 years. She received great satisfaction working with the students in food preparation.

During her life she enjoyed bowling, dancing, and pinochle with her mother and friends, trips to Florida, the Poconos, the beaches of Stone Harbor and especially reveled in her Italian heritage of food, fun, and laughter.

She is survived by her baby brother Samuel DeGenova (Mary) and by her children Martin P. Teller (Pamela), Raymond J. Teller (Jennifer) and Mark J. Teller, grandchildren, Martin (Kate), Zachary, Shana, Morgan and Nicole Teller, great grandchildren, Maggie, Emmy, and Nora Teller, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by her beloved brother Gennaro DeGenova and his wife Carol.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 10:30 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA 19446. The family will receive friends in Church, prior to Mass, starting at 9:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202 or online at www.diabetes.org.

Special thanks to the staff of Kyffin Grove for their care and kindness and being her surrogate family, as we could not be there at the end of Mom’s stay.
