Frederick Stanley Blew passed away calmly, surrounded by family on July 1st 2020 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center in Pottstown, PA. He was 80 years old.
Fred was born on August 24, 1939 in Scranton, PA to Frederick Blew Sr. and Margaret (Magnone) Malysz. Fred had three sibling, Joseph Blew, Maggie Malysz, and Stevie Malysz. All his siblings, nieces and nephews knew him as junior or uncle junior. Though unable to travel in the last years of his life, he remembered his siblings often and with love.
Fred married the love of his life, Carol Ann (Hartrem) Blew in 1964 and remained together until her passing on April 3, 1999. He is survived by his children Dawn Stout (late John Stout Jr.) and Victoria Blew (Richard Gilliland), his stepson Ed Hendershot (Tammy Hendershot), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a father figure to his first born granddaughter, Jeanette Blew, they shared a special bond through the years. Fred’s greatest joys in life were providing for his family and serving god. He was involved with as many of his grandchildren’s lives as possible, always going to school events, hosting family gatherings, and calling daily.
Throughout the years, he would best be known for his “grampa moments” such as always spilling a hot cup of coffee in his lap during car trips and yelling “AH GEEZ!” He spent much of his time doing God’s work by dressing sharply and going to nursing homes to do Bible study with the residents. His words of “Keep your eyes on Jesus” and “Praise Jesus” will always be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved him.
Before moving in with his daughter and grandchildren, Fred had previously lived in Lambertville, NJ for decades, where he raised his family. Before retiring, he worked swingshift at Tredegar, where his job was to run a plastic extruder.
He will always be remembered as an avid Eagles fan. He would tell his grandchildren it was more important to be loyal to your hometeam than to go out, looking to connect yourself with winners. He recorded the Eagles winning the Super Bowl and would rewatch it frequently.
But above all else, Fred loved serving Jesus and spreading the word of Jesus. He would end every conversation with “I love you, but Jesus loves you even more. “
Private memorial to be held by family.
