Mary Katherine McCartney Beatty, age 92, passed away in Lansdale, PA on July 9, 2020, with her girls and grandchildren by her side.
Mary was born on May 9th, 1928 to Robert Emmett McCartney and Sara Josephine Toomey McCartney and was an only child.
Mary attended Joseph Pennell School, Holy Child Catholic School and graduated from Little Flower High School in 1946.
Mary married the love of her life in the Holy Child Rectory, Jack Henry Beatty on June 24, 1950, who passed before her on January 17, 1997, after 46 years of marriage. During that 46 years they had three daughters, Lynda Christine Engler, Susan Jane Walsh (Patrick) and Jane Lyn Williams (Kyle). Those daughters gave Mary twelve grandchildren (Missy Walsh Walsh (John), Sarah Walsh Williams (Anthony), John Walsh (Meghan), Patrick Walsh (Mindy), Robert Walsh (Lauren), Gregory Walsh, Nora Walsh Dolan (Patrick), Mary Engler Eckert (Tim), Beth Engler Leahey (Sean), Katie Engler Coppa (Vincent), John Engler (Lindsey) and James McDaid. Those grandchildren gave Mary nineteen great grandchildren (Erin & Kelly Walsh, Anthony & Nate Williams, Patrick, Michael & Elizabeth Walsh, Cole Walsh, Jase Dolan, Tyler, Jordan & Madison Eckert, Sara Beth & Benjamin Leahey, Zach, Leah & Joshua Coppa, Lincoln & Miles Engler).
Mary was predeceased by her parents and husband as well as her grandson Gregory.
Mary loved summers and weekends in Stone Harbor, NJ, the casinos, bingo, playing cards, shopping, cruises and her pets, but most of all she loved her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at St. Maria Goretti Church 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield, PA 19440, Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 9:30am with a Mass to follow at 10:30am, Covid19 mandates will be followed. Please share a memory with us on cards handed out at the Church. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetary and will be private.
Memorial Donations in Mary’s honor can be made to Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls, 1000 West Lycoming Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
We are so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. She and Jack were long time neighbors on Shady Lane and were all that you could ask for as a neighbor – kind, personable and assets to the neighborhood. Just as they were missed when they moved from Shady Lane, so too will Mary be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Our deepest sympathy to her family.
