Eileen Joanisse—7/4/2020

Eileen Hawes (DeLong) Joanisse, 79, of Hatfield, PA, passed away on July 4, 2020 with her family by her side.

Eileen was born in Wilmington, DE on June 14, 1941 to her beloved parents, John E. Hawes and Eileen (Scanlon) Hawes. She grew up in the Montgomery county region of Pennsylvania and was a graduate of North Penn Senior High School’s class of 1959.

Eileen enjoyed a long professional career in customer service. She was a dedicated worker who thoroughly enjoyed helping her fellow community members In her free time, she liked using her artistic talents to create beautiful crafts and ceramic artwork for her loved ones.  

By far, the most important thing to Eileen was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and “GGMom” (great-grandmother). She shares five children with the late Richard J. DeLong—Christine Chabala (Robert Hegadus), Richard J. DeLong, Jr. (Sharon), , Cynthia Checkowski, Stephen M. DeLong (Mary Ellen) and Karen Kopp (Randall). Also, nine grandchildren—Jacqueline Diedrick (Bradley), Ryan Walter (Nicole), Kristen Bowman (Daniel), Sara DeLong (Thomas Mulligan), Shannon Connolly (Timothy), Brittany Chabala, James Checkowski, Eric Checkowski, Michael Checkowski and five great-grandchildren—Kirra, Natalee, Aiden, Lucas and Emily. Eileen’s kind, loyal and tenacious spirit will live on through them.  

Eileen is now reunited with her parents and brother, James Hawes.

She was a true inspiration to all who knew her, keeping a smile on her face even through the toughest of times. She will be deeply missed but certainly never forgotten. “Love ya,”

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020  from 9:30 to 10:15 AM followed by a formal Mass of Christian burial at 10:30. Both visitation and Mass at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446

Interment will be held at St. Stanislaus’ Church Cemetery.
