Jim Buschmeier—8/7/2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Buschmeier, age 76, on August 7, 2020 after suffering a heart attack.  He was the beloved husband of Anna (nee Liberto) Buschmeier, and loving father of Jim Buschmeier III (Sandra) and Nicole Putnam (Rob) and adoring grandfather to Taylor (20), Lindsay (18) and Cole (16) Putnam, and Eva (11) and Sam (11) Buschmeier.  He is also survived by one brother, Dave Buschmeier.

Jim was the son of Ed and Evelyn (nee Minnich) Buschmeier and grew up on “L” Street in NE Philadelphia. When he met and married Anna, they moved to Ambler and eventually settled in Hatfield, PA in 1975. Jim spent most of his career as a plant engineer at the Budd Company and Simkar Lighting. It was during those years that he became known as “Mr. Fix It” to all who knew him. In his free time, he enjoyed competitive chess, woodworking, spending time on his computer and reading thousands of books.

Jim was hardworking, humble and happy; and he was happiest spending time with his family. He spent timeless hours teaching his kids and grandkids how to play games and enjoyed watching them master the skills necessary to beat him.

He was a proud American who worked the polls for decades and loved NASCAR. Jim loved all sports especially those involving teams his grandchildren played on. He was often seen talking to referees, cheering from the stands or sidelines,high-fiving the kids, and passing them candy as they went by. He also loved watching them play their instruments, perform on stage, and making them smile.

Telling jokes was a favorite pastime for Jim and he was most proud of the bad ones!! He loved to debate and had a true ability to leave you thinking and make you more curious.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St, Lansdale, PA, on Thursday, August 13, 2020, from 10 to 11 AM. For the safety and health of all those attending, masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will be observed.
