Patricia (“Pat”) Mary Simons (néeMcLaughlin) passed away on November 18, 2020 at the age of 100 at Meadowood, Worcester PA.
Pat was born September 26, 1920 in Jersey City, NJ. She graduated from St. Aloysius High School (Jersey City, 1938) and from The Packard School (NY, NY, 1939). She left her secretarial position on Wall Street to join the American Red Cross during World War II. While stationed overseas, she met Army Lt. James (“Jim”) Robert Simons of Fort Worth, TX and they married in Mulhouse, France, in 1946. They remained husband and wife for 54 years, until his death in 2000.
The Simons were long-time residents of Lansdale, PA. In addition to her husband, Pat is predeceased by her father, Patrick Aloysius McLaughlin; mother, Mary Veronica McCarthy; 2 brothers, John (“Jack”) and William (“Billy”).
Pat loved Avon-by-the-Sea (NJ); coffee-talk; bargain shopping/returning; gambling in general, penny slots in particular; any mystery by Mary Higgins Clark; and of course, her family. Pat watched Jeopardy nightly and could still clear some categories at 98 years of age.
She is survived by her son and his wife, James R. (Jr) and Joyce Simons (Downingtown, PA); 2 daughters, Mary P. Simons (Philadelphia, PA) and Jo-Ann E. Bonner (Horsham, PA); 8 grandchildren (Jenna, Kim, Jay, Danielle, Bett, Julie, Joe, and James); 12 great-grandchildren (Peter, Thomas, Jamie, Mickey, Betsy, Scott, Phillip, Emma, Lilly, Stella, Henry, and Loie); 4 nephews (Tom, Bob, Paul, and Stephen); and 2 nieces (Kathleen and Susan).
Services and interment are private. The family would like to thank those who provided love and support to her as she bravely fought COVID.
