Eleanor Marie Brennan–2/17/2021

Eleanor Marie Brennan (nee Friel) died peacefully in the skilled nursing facility at Normandy Farms Estates on February 17, 2021.

She was born November 4,1929, in Norristown, Pa., to Agnes (Barry) and William Friel. She attended St. Patrick’s Elementary and Secondary School in Norristown, graduating in 1947. In 1952, she married the late Joseph J. Brennan, also of Norristown. Together, they had two daughters, Mary Judith and Diane Marie.

In addition to managing a household and raising a family, Eleanor worked full-time for the former Hamilton Paper Company of Miquon, Pa., later absorbed by the Weyerhaeuser Company, retiring as an Executive Assistant after 35 years of service. Thereafter, she was active in her grandchildren’s lives, attending all of their sporting and school events, often also functioning as transport.

She was a long-term member of St. Patrick’s Parish n Norristown and volunteered at the Christmas Bazaar and St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. She later moved to East Norriton and joined St. Titus Parish, where she was a member since 1973.

She is survived by her two children, Mary Judith (Dr. David) Masiak of Lower Gwyned and Diane Marie (William) Begley of Eagleville, Pa. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jeffrey Masiak, Jenna Caffrey and Lauren Winters. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Bryna, Elise, Raegan and Declan Caffrey and Sean, Catherine and Jude Masiak and step–great grandmother to Cole, Shane and Bailey Winters.

She is predeceased by her brother William Friel and grandson Jonathan Masiak.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Friday, February 26, 2021, at 11 AM at St. Titus Catholic Church, 3006 Keenwood Rd, Eagleville, PA 19403. Visitation will precede Mass at 10 AM.  Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Patrician Society, 121 E. Chestnut Street, Norristown, Pa. 19401.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the residents and staff at Normandy Farms in Blue Bell, who extended their friendship and care since 2010.

  1. Mrs Brennan was a lovely woman who raised 2 wonderful daughters who loved and cared for their mother throughout her years. She can Rest In Peace, her work is completed here. Sending Love and prayers to her family. ❤️PG
