Ronald “Ron” Clyde Cohick, 72, of Hatfield passed away peacefully on Thursday September 30, 2021 in his home surrounded by the love of his family. He remained courageous during the two years he lived with pancreatic cancer and praised the loving support of his wife Ann “Nancy” (Sweeney) at his side.
Born on January 6, 1949 in Carlisle, he was the son of Kathleen “Cass” (Wentz) and John “Jack” Cohick. Raised on a dairy farm with his brother James “Jim”, Ron learned the value of hard work and family which he embodied throughout his life.
Ron was a graduate of Susquehanna University where he studied English Literature. After graduation, Ron taught English as a second language throughout Europe. His free spirit brought him back to Philadelphia, where he worked as a taxi driver and a street vendor selling leather belts. A true hippie, Ron always loved to share his stories from his adventure to Woodstock. His life experience gave him a sense of community and kindness that he carried in his heart and he shared with his clients through his 43 years of work with Metlife. Ron had a gentle, caring, and attentive presence that shown through his bright blue eyes. He could make a friend wherever he went. Before cancer, he loved to make daily trips to Giant or Walmart to smile, converse or share a joke. He genuinely cared for all his family, friends, and acquaintances that he considered friends. Surviving with his wife are daughters Cassie Bobek and husband Nick of Souderton and Christy Cohick of Philadelphia; grandchildren Laycie, Natalie, and Ronan; brother James “Jim” Cohick and wife Jane of Newburg; nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Viewing on Tuesday Evening, October 5, 2021, from 6 to 8 P.M., at the Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St, Lansdale, PA 19446 and again on Wednesday Morning, October 6, 2021 from 10 to 11:15, followed by a private Service at 11:30, also at the Funeral Home. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in Ron’s name can be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation online at https://www.npcf.us/.
Nancy – Joyce and I are saddened to hear this news. He was a great neighbor and friend. He was truly a good spirit.
