Anne Marie Mullen—12/1/2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Anne Marie Mullen , 77, announce her passing on Wed. Dec 1, 2021. She died unexpectedly due to a short illness. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Kunz and Anne Bradley. She graduated from St Pius X Catholic High School in 1962.

Prior to starting her family, she worked for a brief time at Harleysville Insurance. She dedicated many years of her life to not only raising her own children but also caring for others’ children as an in-home daycare provider. Anne Marie also worked as a Mary Kay consultant, a role which allowed her to learn about empowering women, being a leader, and ultimately achieving the top honor of earning the Mary Kay car. Later in life, Anne Marie was employed at Gwynedd Mercy College, where she worked for 25 years.

She was married for 41 years to her beloved late husband, Edward R Mullen, who she met at a St. Marie Club dance in Lansdale. Surviving are her five children, Andrea Laing and her husband, Justin, of Gilbertsville; Dana Blazo and her husband, Michael, of Schwensksville; Edward Mullen and his wife, Jennifer, of Lansdale; Michele Swavely and her husband, Jacob, of Lansdale; Kevin Mullen of Lansdale; ten grandchildren, Gabriel, Michael, Savannah, Christopher, Matthew, Mallory, Audrey, Josiah, Timothy, Lydia; brothers; Gerard Kunz and Lynne of Mantua, NJ; Daniel Kunz and his wife, Lois of Harleysville; Raymond of Pottstown; sisters; Eileen Beaty of Pottstown; Rosemary Graves of Pleasantville, NJ; Loretta Parson and her husband, Ty of Elverson. She was preceded in death by her baby boy, Justin in 1984; her baby sister, Bernadette; and brothers Charles and Michael Kunz.

Anne Marie was an avid skier for many winter weekends. She enjoyed ballroom and Irish dancing, camping, and traveling the country and the world. She was well-loved by many – once a friend of Anne Marie, always a friend.

Friends and relatives will be received on Saturday, December 11 from 9 AM – 11 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM and will also be held at St Stanislaus Church. Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery. For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Anne Marie’s name to St Stanislaus Parish, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA 19446. Please write in the memo line “In memory of Anne Marie Mullen”.

  1. Ann was a very special person, and I will always remember her kindness. My thoughts are with her family, who she loved very much.

  2. Remembering Anne Marie brings a smile to my face and a feeling of warmth to my heart. We met at Gwynedd-Mercy College. Anne Marie took over the Communications Room when I moved to a new position at the College. What a wonderful addition she was to the College. She was kind, caring, helpful, competent and always had that wonderful smile on her face. Anne Marie made life brighter. I am blessed to have known her.
My sincerest sympathy to the Mullen Family.
Thank you for sharing her with us,
    Marilyn Lewis

  3. Very Sorry. My sincere condolences to The Kunz Family on their Loss. I only met Ann once or twice that I can remember. I found her to be a very Gracious Lady who was very Happy in herself. She will be truly Missed. May God Hold her in his Hands

  4. Thank you to the family and friends who commented here in regards to my mom. Yes, she was a fabulous lady. It is nice to hear about the life she had at work and the impact her personality made because I didn’t get to experience that with her. I know she really enjoyed her job at Gwynedd. Especially that St. Joseph’s statue was her favorite Saint and she would pass by him everyday entering the doors. The Campground was definitely a place she enjoyed immensely. It was our favorite place to gather as a family. Her home was a welcoming place for all the young cousins and neighborhood and school friends we had over all those years. We asked for sleepovers and usually got them since my parents wanted our childhood to be fun and exciting!!! Thanks for sharing your experiences, Ryan Beaty.
Mom will always be remembered by all of us as we keep her spirit alive with the stories you share.
I am having a difficult time knowing I will never see her again although I will keep trekking along because I know that is what she would want for me.
Thank you from the deepest of my heart. Ed and Anne Marie’s first born daughter,
    Andrea Mullen Laing

  5. Aunt Ann Marie is a genuine blessing. Growing up I stayed over at her house to play with her son Kevin as kids and she would make delicious iced tea adding fresh mint from her garden. In the back yard Kevin and I would toss a football or play wiffle ball while Ann Marie would hang close on the clothes line, and watch the ball go over the tall bushes into the neighbors yard as we would gasp! During sleepovers we were never allowed to the 3rd floor, that was the older kids domain. To this day I still don’t think I’ve ever been to the 3rd floor. I remember Uncle Ed, her husband, asking me to climb into their folded up camper to retrieve things that were left in there because I was small enough to fit. And I would think “Uncle Ed gets up really early for work, it’s still dark when he leaves!” I recall Michele spending hours re-writing Pop-pops journal while she sat at a computer in their living room and asking Ann Marie for help deciphering some of the writing. And of course I remember all the times at the camp ground, fellowshipping around the fire, competing at the pool (breath holding contests, cannonball contests…) and getting lost trying to find the bathrooms. These are fond memories that I cherish and I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful Aunt. I love you Aunt Ann Marie, you are in good hands with God.

  7. Anne was a delightful woman. I first met her as my brothers girlfriend and was impressed. I told him often that he married “up”. We had many happy years in our family together and I was proud to be the best man in her wedding. She created a loving family of her own and will be missed. God Bless yo Anne.

  8. Anne Marie was a great co-worker, always had a smile and had time for a chit chat. It made those treks to Connolly Center in the cold a little more bearable! She will be missed…

  9. Anne Marie was a wonderful person who will be missed so much. When Andrea and Justin got married I was welcomed into the family by her. I will never forget her beautiful smile or her crazy little giggles 💕 Rest In Peace with Ed💕

  10. What a thoughtful and beautiful woman AnnMarie was, both inside and out. I enjoyed working with her at Gwynedd. She always greeted you with a smile and was truly interested in how you were doing. My sincerest condolences to AnnMarie’s husband and entire family. May fond memories sustain you all through this difficult time.

  11. Anne Marie was a great lady, co-worker, and friend, with whom I worked for many of her 25 years at Gwynedd Mercy. She was warm and motherly and possessed a fine sense of humor, as well as a person of deep faith. The latter was especially evident during the time of her husband’s illness and death.

We enjoyed many wonderful conversations as I waited for copies, and I greatly appreciated her competence, her sisterly concern, and her constant support. Even after I retired, I enjoyed stopping at her workroom for a quick chat. She was a blessing, a person who will be missed by all who had the privilege of getting to know her.

    Rest in peace, dear friend!

    Carol

    • Ann Marie was a very beautiful woman. She was always kind and nothing was too much trouble for her. She belonged to St.Stans New Beginning group for widows and widowers. She volunteered for Hospitality and always did a great job! She attended our monthly breakfasts that we had. So that how I really got to know her. She will be sadly missed! My heart goes out to her family which she talked about a lot. RIP peace!❤️

  12. Anne Marie was a very sweet lady, judging by my weekly greetings to her as she prepared my photocopies for class. She was always interested in my travels, wanted to see photos and more. I left copies of great poems for her, and she clearly enjoyed them. She will be missed!
