Elizabeth (Betty) M. Gilbert—12/19/2021

Elizabeth (Betty) M. Gilbert, a lifelong resident of Lansdale, PA, passed peacefully on December 19, 2021, after a long illness. She was the daughter of Domenic and Concetta (Graziano) Chilberti, who were Italian immigrants. Betty was 91 years of age, born on March 28, 1930, in the same house she grew up in and continued to reside until her passing.

Betty retired from Philco Ford, where she worked in the manufacturing assembly department.

Her biggest passion was in the culinary arts- she loved to bake and cook the Italian dishes she grew up on, as well as try new recipes. To say she was a great cook is an understatement. Especially at Christmastime, she loved sharing her home-made pizzelles with everyone.

A lifetime parishioner, contributor, and friend of St. Stanislaus Church, she actively participated in the community and was beloved by many.

She traveled to Europe on several occasions to visit her family in Southern Italy and her brother, Vincent, who resided in Germany. She most enjoyed traveling to California visiting her daughter, spending time in Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. She loved Opera music, which was introduced to her by her father, Domenic, as well as the traditional Italian songs.

Betty is survived by her daughter Nina, resident of Los Angeles, and her daughter Mary, in
Lansdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her four siblings, Kate, Frank, Vincent and
Domenic.

There will be a viewing at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA 19446 on Friday, December 24, 2021 from 9 to 10:15 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will be in the St. Stanislaus Church Cemetery.

Elizabeth (Betty), before her passing, wanted to thank everyone for all their help, kindness,
compassion and friendship. It meant so much to her to feel such love from so many in the St. Stanislaus community and from her devoted friends. She always expressed tremendous gratitude for everything.

  1. Well, I never met Betty. But from what I heard over the years, and looking at this picture, she reminds me so much of my own mother. May she rest in heavenly peace.

  2. Missed already but loved always. I didn’t see much of Betty in the past few years but she always showed me kindness from the first day we met. She had a great sense of humor even when I jokingly kidded her how much her sauce reminded me of Ragu. I can tell you that only happened once. Thank you for many great memories Betty and heartfelt condolences to Nina and Mary.

  3. Betty was a good and faithful soul. I am sure she already has her wings. Rest in peace, your work is done.
    Love, Phyllis

  4. There are so many loving memories of my Godmother, Aunt Betty. Our holiday celebrations, dinners she made for myself and family, our lunch dates with my mom and friends, and so many more. I enjoyed making her laugh and smile with my silly personality. You will be so missed. Please tell my mom hello. Rest In Peace. Love Always, Kathy and Ricky too!
