Ricky (Rick) Coleman—12/15/2021

Ricky (Rick) Coleman passed away on December 15, 2021 at the age of 63.

He was the son of the late Charles Coleman and Patty Haynes.

Rick was born on October 20, 1958 in Festus, Missouri, where he grew up on a farm raising animals, ridding rodeo and showing horses. While growing up, Rick had a close relationship with his grandfather Orville Coleman. In school Rick played sports including basketball and football where he excelled.

At the age of 17 he moved across the country to join the Merchant Marines where he attended the Harry Lundeburg School of Seamanship. After completing his schooling, Rick began his journeys around the world on oil tankers with the position of chief pump man. He visited many European cities and surveyed their country sides when having port time. Rick’s shipping experience along with a journeyman-ship to be an electrician, led to his 14 year career at Farm and Home Oil company where he took care of their oil bulk plant and was a first responder for oil spills.

With this background Rick was then able to start his 15 year career at Merck where he held the position of Pharm tech until the building he worked in was shut down and he went on to retire.

In his free time, Rick enjoyed fishing and fishing trips with friends to Canada, watching football and NASCAR races. He was an active board member and coach at Hatfield Little League while his son was growing up. Rick also was an assistant coach of his son’s community football team and attended many Boy Scout outings and camping trips with his son.

Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, both parents, and a close friend Bob Hutchins. He is survived by his son, Jarret Coleman, of Schwenksville.
