Mary Ann Major—1/17/2022

Mary Ann Major, age 80, of Hatfield, Pa., died Monday, January 17, 2022. Born on September 17, 1941, in Taylor, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (nee. Ruzak) Kost. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Nelson Major, in 2005.

Bill and Mary Ann were the parents of five sons: Gregory of Hatfield, Keith (Rebecca) of Perkiomonville, Pa., Christopher (Kristina) of Nazareth, Pa., William of Limerick, Pa., and Timothy (Laura) of Riverton, N.J. Her wonderful grandchildren are Nicole, Bridget, Owen, Ava, Lily and Sam.

She is survived by a brother Richard (Jan), FL, and a sister Christine (Joseph) Loyek, Scranton. She was a special Godmother to her Godchildren Nicole Loyek, Kristin Major and Jimmy Cudo. She also has many very close cousins and friends who love her dearly.

She graduated from Taylor High School in 1959 as the class Salutatorian where she was also Co-captain of the Majorettes. Mary Ann then worked at the International Salt Co prior to her marriage. After raising her five terrific sons, she worked at the Superior Tube in Collegeville. She enjoyed crafts, sports, especially rooting for the Phillies and the Villanova Basketball teams. 

She was a dedicated member of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church where she was a very faithful Lector at Mass. She also volunteered her services as a secretary in the Parish Center along with supporting its many organizations. She was a bright light wherever she went and was beloved by everyone who knew her. She leaves a legacy of love, compassion and happiness to all those who loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA, Visitation begins at 12:30 pm, one hour before the Mass.

Interment will be held privately in SS. Peter and Paul R.C. Cemetery in Taylor, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Stanislaus Church at the above address.

  2. How I will miss seeing you at church and our wonderful conversations. Mary Ann you always took the time to ask about Lee, Autumn and Noah. You listened with such attentiveness and spoke so eloquently. When you read the scriptures at Mass you did so with joy filled proclamation! You are a dear Sister in Jesus, and I look forward to continuing our heartfelt conversations in Paradise! You are a gem, Mary Ann! ✝️

  3. The world has lost a dear sweet lady. She left us better than she found us. She was a devout person who loved her family and friends to the point of sacrifice. I feel privileged to have known her. RIP Mary Ann.

  4. Mary Ann is my big sister. She taught me to love unconditionally, to stay humble and to stay true to our faith. She was my best friend and we shared wonderful times in Italy, Key West and Sea Isle City. She remains locked in my heart til we meet again. I L U, Mare!
