Mary Catherine Gregor, (nee Wade), 87, of Maple Glen, PA, formerly of Huntingdon Valley, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2022.
Born in Shenandoah, PA in 1935, Mary moved to Philadelphia as a young adult, married her husband Frank, raised her six children and created a warm inviting home for family and friends. Thirty-eight years ago, Mary adopted the nickname “GiGi” (G.G. for gorgeous grandma) when she welcomed her first grandchild Erin into the family. Over the years, many friends have affectionately called her GiGi and she relished those close relationships.
Mary’s name was providential as she had a lifelong devotion to the Blessed Mother. Her life was imbued with her love of God, family and friends. She created lasting memories with her many friends from Huntingdon Valley, Avalon and Bay Hill.
GiGi was preceded in death by her loving husband Frank and her faithful daughter-in-law Kim Biborosch Gregor. She is survived by her cheerful sister Sara (Bill) Discavage, her devoted children Mary Frances and Jack Lane, Kathleen and Brian Wenger, Michael and Kelly Gregor, Richard and Lynnie Gregor, Frank and Tina Gregor, Douglas and Anne Gregor, her 24 adoring grandchildren and her ten precious great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation, Friday, April 22, at St. Alphonsus Church beginning at 10 a.m., followed by Mass at 12 Noon St Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen, PA 19002. Burial will be private.
Mary was an ardent, joyful and steadfast ambassador for the schools her children attended. It was her wish that any memorial tribute be made to either Mount Saint Joseph Academy, 120 W. Wissahickon Ave., Flourtown, PA 19031 or LaSalle College High School, 8605 W. Cheltenham Ave., Wyndmoor, PA 19038.
Mary was such a wonderful, lovely and kind friend. She was one of my first friends when I moved to Isleworth in Windermere near Bay Hill. We met playing golf but our friendship went on from there. We enjoyed our book club, playing bridge, meeting for dinner and weekend breakfast and going to movies. I will miss her and seeing her wonderful family.
She will always be remembered and loved. I am so grateful she was in my life.
I feel very privileged to have met Mary. And able to spend time with her and the Winger family for a number of Christmas.
