Mary Virginia Conwell (nee Cahill), 89, formerly of the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia, Bala Cynwyd, and Lansdale died peacefully on April 13, 2022, at Abramson Center in Horsham.
Ginny was born March 28, 1933, in Philadelphia to Edward A. and Anne Cahill. Raised in Mount Airy, she was the oldest of seven children.
Ginny graduated from the Cecilian Academy and Gwynedd Mercy College and worked as a medical secretary at Jefferson Hospital under John H. Gibbon Jr, MD, inventor of the heart-lung machine. In 1958 she married her beloved husband Joseph S. Conwell III of Wynnewood.
After living a few years in Center City and East Falls, the couple settled in Bala Cynwyd with their three sons, Blaise, Joe, and Tom. Ginny was an active member of Saint Matthias Parish, attending church with her family every Sunday and teaching in the parish pre-school.
Throughout her life Ginny connected with countless people who needed a helping hand and generously gave of herself in the spirit of Jesus Christ.
Mary Virginia Conwell is survived by her sons Blaise Conwell and his wife Kathy, Joseph Conwell and his wife Laurie, and Thomas Conwell and his wife Megan, her grandchildren Rose, Claire, Eddie, Chris, Cara, Anthony, Nicole, Tommy and Chloe, and her great grandson Cameron. Ginny is also survived by her brother Richard Cahill and her sister Maryellen Cahill, and has joined her loving husband Joseph S. Conwell III and her grandson DJ in Heaven.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 20th, at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446. The family will receive friends starting at 9:30.
