On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, Emily Catherine Willey, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 83, in the loving arms of her son Richard and daughter in-law, Janice, in the presence of her eldest living son William, in her North Wales PA home.
She was born on October 6, 1938, in Conshohocken, PA to the late Charles and Elizabeth Altemus. She was one of five children, Mickey, Johnny, Sonny and Mary, now all deceased.
She attended St. Mathew School and church, where she received all of her Catholic sacraments.
She worked for a brief period at the Essex Factory warehouse in Conshohocken, PA, where she met her husband, the late, William Willey. They lived in Conshohocken and in 1971, moved to Norristown PA, where they raised their children; Charles Altemus (deceased), William Altemus, Richard Altemus (Janice), Joseph Willy-West (Janie), Fred Willey, Horace Willey (Maria) and Mary Willey (Tony Ruth). She also had 5 adult Stepsons; William Willey, Jr., (twins) Arthur Willey and Bruce Willey (deceased), Elmer Willey and Raymond Willey. She hat 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She enjoyed playing bingo with friends and family regularly. She was a loving mother and wonderful homemaker and a mom to the neighborhood, frequently babysitting the neighborhood children of working parents.
She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, who loved and adored her and were very close to her, as well as her great grandchildren, whom she adored. Especially in her final years, the great grandchildren would lighten her spirit and brighten her days, bringing her so much laughter and joy. She had so much room in her heart for the babies in our family.
Before her decline, she had such a witty and quirky sense of humor, often bantering with her sons William, Rich and Fred.
She enjoyed visits and Duo calls from her son Joey and his family, spending mornings sitting outdoors with Joey and the grands, sipping her cup of tea with cream while watching the deer. She always enjoyed spending time with Joey and his family, both in his home or visiting hers.
She really enjoyed traveling and vacationing, with her son Richard and his family, and in her final years, to closer destinations like Virginia, Lancaster and the Poconos.
Her granddaughter Ria, loved and adored her. She often sang to her at night, soothing her spirit, as well as, caring for her and tending to her needs.
In her final days, her granddaughter, Denise, came in regularly, to assist with her bathing, feeding and basic needs, often bringing a warm and loving smile to her face. She knew she was so very loved and appreciated by her family!
