Charles A. Petrusky
October 13, 1934 – September 24, 2022
Charles (Chuck) Petrusky, 87, of Lansdale, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 24, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Chuck was born on October 13, 1934 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was one of 3 children and the proud son of Anne and Andrew Petrusky and the loving brother to Barbara and Bill. Chuck attended Woodrow Wilson High School, where he met Tillie, the love of his life. They were married on August 25, 1956.
Chuck served proudly as Military Police for the U.S. Army stationed in Panama during the Korean War.
Chuck started his career in the construction industry, first working as a cement mason. Always striving to make a better life for his family, he attended night school for 8 years while working full-time and raising two children. He earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Youngstown State University. This accomplishment presented him new opportunities initially as a surveyor then ultimately as a construction superintendent. Some of Chuck’s more notable projects included the Philadelphia Airport expansion, Liberty II, and the Grand View Hospital annex.
In 1970, Chuck and Tillie found their forever home on Williamsburg Road in Lansdale. where they raised their four children and developed many life-long friendships in the close-knit neighborhood. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on August 25, 2020.
Chuck was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family, hosting poolside parties, Sunday football and countless celebrations. Chuck had a strong faith and was proud to serve as an Usher at St. Stanislaus Church. He was so proud of his four grandchildren and spent endless hours with them.
Chuck loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time in his garden and sharing the harvest with family and neighbors. He also took pleasure in making furniture. He was a true craftsman and his many works can be found in the homes of his children and will be cherished by the family for many years to come.
In later years Chuck and Tillie enjoyed trips to Arizona, Ohio, Las Vegas, Atlantic City and the Poconos. We were all blessed to have him for over 87 years.
Chuck was preceded in death by Tillie, his beloved wife of 64 years, his sister Barbara, brother Bill and his parents Anne and Andrew Petrusky. Chuck is survived by his children Linda (Tony), Karen (Rich), Chuck (Marybeth), and Marianne (Brian). He is also survived by his grandchildren David, Tony (Jessica), Nicolette and Stephen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 3rd at 10:30AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the Church, prior to Mass. Interment will be at Saint John Neumann Cemetery.
Special thanks to the staff at Souderton Mennonite Home and Caring Hospice Service for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Stanislaus Church.
Very much an end of an era; many more generations to come. Perfect example for generations! I have very fond memories with ‘Great’ Uncle Chuck with his impressive garden and his awesome prime rib pool parties, he introduced me to horseradish and pigs feet (well made for Barbara my grandma) it was super nice to see him (or Aunt Tillie) make a traditional meal for my grandma. He gave me a wonderful tour of Philly and I am truly grateful to visit our National American Treasures, I can now teach my children about. Uncle Chuck had a way of making great laughter and making us smile. Many condolences for Linda, Karen, Chuck, and Marianne and family; God be with you during this time. Many blessings and may God give you glimpses of memories, traditions and moments to pass down to your children and grandchildren.
Sincerely,
Michelle (Barbara’s granddaughter)
This is Gloria Fischer! Just wanted to express my sympathy over Charles death. Know that we are praying for him and all of you. Sorry I was unable to attend the funeral. My niece Joanne with whom I live has Leukemia and we can’t be in crowds. She was in St Stans with Nicolette and Stephen.
The end of an era…Uncle Chuck joins his beloved Tillie, my dad and mom, Aunt Barbara and our grandparents in heaven. I have many fond memories of Uncle Chuck, who was one of the nicest, easiest going guys I ever knew. Always smiling, asking how I’m doing, and making sure I had enough to eat at one of the countless backyard barbecues they hosted. His legacy of patience and kindness was clearly passed onto his children and my cousins Linda, Karen, Chuck and Marianne. My sincerest condolences to the family.
