Patrick William Gagliano
November 12, 1934 to October 19, 2022
Patrick William Gagliano, of Lansdale, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2022.
Family was everything to him. Pat was blessed with the gift of laughter and shared it with everyone he met. He could tell a story like no other.
He instilled in his children respect for all, most importantly for their mother, Jane Marie, his wife, the love of his life and best friend for 66 years.
Patrick was born in Roxborough on November 12, 1934, to William (Bill the barber) and Lena (Consolo) Gagliano. After the death of his mother (Feb 3, 1945) he was raised by his step-mother, Carolyn Gagliano.
He graduated from Roxborough High School in 1952. Guided by his Uncle Joe (Mike) he became a plumber and lifetime member of the Plumbers Local Union No. 690. Having worked on memorable buildings such as Philadelphia’s Liberty One, City Hall and the Spectrum and its renovation. From Wilkes Barre to South Philly.
On October 20, 1956 , “Patty” married Jane Marie desGarennes at St. Madeleine Sophie’s Church in Philadelphia; they went on to have four children. In 1962 they moved to Lansdale, from Fort Washington, where they remained lifelong residents.
Patrick was a devout baseball fan from a very young age. He followed the A’s until they moved in 1954, then followed the Phillies ever since. As an adult he added the Flyers, becoming a season ticket holder for many years. He was a devoted father umpiring Little League games, participating in Indian Guides and serving on the board of the North Penn Squires.
He inherited a love of model railroading from his father in law and continued the hobby into his 80s.
Patrick retired at the age of 62 and delivered auto parts part time for the next 20 years, doing what he loved most, driving around meeting people at every stop. During those years he and his wife traveled throughout the United States and Europe.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Marie and their children Michele (Paul) Kraynak, of Lansdale, Patricia (Walter “Bud”) Ward of Lansdale, Bill (Stacey) Gagliano of Limerick and Greg (Erika) Gagliano of Quakertown; eight grandchildren, Steve Hutchison, Amanda (Jeff) Halasy, Daniel Ward, Brian (Julie) Ward, Nicholas (Jul) Gagliano, Maria Gagliano, Patrick Gagliano and Christian Gagliano; and three great-grandchildren, Emily and Josh Halasy and Matteo Gagliano. His love of family also extends to five “bonus” grandchildren: Ben, BethAnn, Nate, Alex and Rita and eight “bonus” great grands: Alexa, Mina, Wylie, Sami, Holden, Maddie, Thea, Audrey, Ella and Cassandra.
In addition he is survived by a sister, Carol Ann (Al) Pace of Cape May.
Friends and Family are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church , 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA. Greeting will be from 9 am to 10:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am.
Private burial will occur at a later date.
My grandfather was one of a kind. Many of my life’s firsts were with him: my first Flyers game, my first arm wrestling match and my first time driving! He let me sit in his lap and steer his truck down Cedar Street. I’ll miss him everyday. RIP Grandpop ❤.
Patty was a great plumber & friend. I will miss riding to the meetings with you. RIP. Rich Hunter
My brother Patty was the best brother a sister could have.He was warm, funny and caring.
He always called me “doll and “scooch” which means pain in the a$$ in italian. He gave the best hugs. I’ll miss you Patty and I love you from the bottom of my heart.
I was lucky to work with some fine journeymen plumbers when I started my journey to become a union plumber. One of them was Patty Gagliano. He was funny, witty, and a joy to be around. I was even luckier to meet his wife and family and I was invited into their home even after Pat’s retirement. Their 50th anniversary was a highlight for sure and a great day. My dad (Cha) and Frank Canalichio were the original connections to Patty and my nickname (Son of Cha) came from them which I wear like a badge of honor.
God Bless you and your beautiful family.
Patty … joyous smile and presence … role model for countless kids on the block back in the day … generous heart … neighbor and friend … Patty
Let perpetual light shine upon him!
Thoughts and prayers for the family. So many people will miss you and the sound of your laughter.
My partner for many years as a plumber, can’t imagine how many side jobs we did together. Always good for a laugh, rest in peace, my friend.
I am so sorry for the loss of this loving man. My condolences to all of his family.
Was extremely proud to be able to call this man my grandfather in law. They don’t make many like him. I will love you forever GGPop.
