It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, Christine Mae Massias/ Dwyer. Christine celebrated her 64th birthday on December 25, 2022. Christine passed away on January 9, 2023, after a lengthy battle with bile duct cancer. Christine had a strong will to live and fought bravely till the very end. At the time of her passing Christine was surrounded by family members.
Christine was born on December 25, 1958, in the parish of St Andrew, Jamaica. She is the daughter of Headley, and Enid Massais. Christine is survived by her four siblings, Audley, Andrea, Colin and Douglas Massais. as well as her mother and step father Enid and Ivan Clark. She immigrated to the United States in July of 1978. Christine married Lloyd S Dwyer on August 5th, 1978. Their wedding took place at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in the Bronx, NY. After the wedding Christine moved to Pennsylvania to reside with her husband. Christine and her husband resided in Lansdale Pennsylvania. While a resident of Lansdale Christine gave birth to a daughter Christina/Tanya and a son Christopher. The couple moved to Harleysville, Pa., in 1983. A few years later Christine gave birth to a third child, Cindy. For over two decades Christine resided at the home she shared with her husband and three kids. Unfortunately, Christine and her husband divorced in 2003.
Christine was a sweet, kind, and caring person. A caring mother, aunt, and grandmother. Christine preferred the simple life. Growing up, she loved music and dancing. Her favorite artist was Michael Jackson. However, reggae music had a special place in her heart. Christine would often cry while listening to reggae artists like Bob Marley, Denis Brown, and the group The Mighty Diamonds. Listening to the music moved her deeply. The music reminded her of childhood days, a simpler time with less responsibilities and a lot less stress. Christine loved to laugh; she always had an entertaining story to tell. Family members and friends would sit for hours, and just listen with a smile. In her later years Christine was blessed with a grandson Jayden, now seven years. Christine would often pray to God and ask that he bless her with a few more years so she could watch her grandson grow. For family members this is one of the most painful aspects of her passing. Words cannot express the love Christine had for her grandson Jayden
Christine inspired us all with her continued resilience, strength, and strong Christian faith. Christine’s adaptability to the ever-changing symptoms of her terminal illness was a source of inspiration to her family. Despite her illness Christine still found ways to render kindness to others. She was a giving person till the very end. Her kindness could take the form of food that she would prepare for anyone who visited her in her home. Christine welcomed everyone into her home with open arms
Christine was a ray of light who shined on anyone who was in her presence. Christine’s beauty inside and out will never be forgotten, and she will always hold a special place in all our hearts, in this life and the next
