Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Strobel (nee Colton), 80, of Hatfield passed away peacefully on Saturday January 21, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
Kathy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and later moved to Chester, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1960. She eventually settled in Hatfield. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a teacher’s aide for special education students for both the North Penn and Souderton Area school districts. She was a very sociable person who loved her grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed the shore, shopping, her cats, and conversation. Kathy hosted Christmas dinner for 30+ people every year. Many of these loved ones came to spend time with her in her final days.
Kathy is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, William “Bill” Strobel, her children Debra Glassman (David), John McKenna (Eleanor), Denise LaVana (Paul), Jennifer Shank (John), son-in-law John Donahue, 22 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, siblings Richard Colton (Rosie), Judy Tiano (Pete), and Bill Colton (Dori). She was preceded in death by parents, William and Mary Colton, and daughter Stephanie Donahue.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Rd., Hatfield, PA 19440, where her family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM, in Church, prior to Mass. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Pennsburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name can be made to the Special Olympics Pennsylvania.
