Ellen Elizabeth Carney, 91 years old, died Friday morning, June 16, 2023, at Elm Terrace Gardens. She was the devoted wife of John P (Jack) Carney, for 65 years, until his death in 2021. Ellen was a Lansdale, Pa., resident for 55 years.
Born on April 14, 1932, in Ardmore Pa., she was the daughter of the late, Joseph and Sarah (nee. McKay) McAleese.
She graduated from Notre Dame High School, in Moylan, Pa., class of 1951.
Mrs. Carney went on to marry her beloved husband Jack in May of 1956. The wedding was at St Denis Catholic Church in Havertown, Pa.
She was known for her dedication to her family and friends and was very devoted to the Miraculous Medal Novena. Her reward for raising children was to treat her grandchildren to trips and visits. She loved spending time with them and babysitting when needed.
Her family is thankful their parents had so many years to enjoy their grandchildren. When friends or family would come to the house, John and Ellen would treat them as though this was the greatest day of the year.
Ellen leaves behind and is missed by her children Jack Carney (Patty) of Harleysville, Dennis Carney (Mary Ann) of Schwenksville, Francis Carney of Lansdale, and Tim Carney (Heather) of Souderton, her eleven Grandchildren; Daniel (Melissa), Bryan (Jacqui), Sarah, Sean (Caitlin), Peter, Evan (Jordan), Clare (Kevin), Katharine, Shannon, Mathew, and Jaclyn as well as 5 Great Grandchildren; Alexis, Saoirse, Mairead, Noelle and Irving.
In addition to her beloved husband, Jack, she was also preceded by her grandson Patrick and her brother Jimmy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ellen’s Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, where her viewing will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM, in Church, prior to Mass. She will be interred with her husband Jack at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Horsham Twp.
