Brigitte Menard Bonny, a mother, wife, sister, aunt, godmother, friend, and advocate who selflessly put others above herself, while advancing causes dear to her, passed away in the peace and comfort of her home on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Brigitte was born to Marie-Therese Sylvestre Menard and Max Menard in Haiti. Ever the student of life, Brigitte traveled and studied across the world before immigrating to Queens, New York in 1980. Through a fortunate meeting at her brother’s apartment, Brigitte was introduced to his wife’s cousin Gardy, who would later become her husband and life partner of 38 bountiful years. Through this union, Brigitte and Gardy welcomed their two sons, Alain and Jean-Paul.
Brigitte worked tirelessly to promote education by attaining her B.A. degree in education from Chestnut Hill College, and later teaching foreign languages at schools across the Philadelphia region. Later in life, she advocated for her native country serving as an executive officer of Team Haiti-USA, to promote community among Haitians in greater Philadelphia.
Brigitte was forever in a relentless pursuit of uniting people, values, and cultures as exemplified through her endearing nature and zest for life.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Gardy, sons, Alain and Jean-Paul, brothers Serge, Max Jr., Jean-Pierre, their respective families, and countless other family members and friends who will forever be impacted by her love and generosity.

In knowing, glorifying and serving the Lord we have the answer to why we are here on earth.
Brigitte did just that. In all she did, even in everyday tasks, she glorified God.
She was a great mother and wife. A mother´s strength is the foundation upon which her family stands. She was a big sister, aunt & godmother who cared and mentored by setting a good example. She was sincere, warm, gracious, compassionate, loyal, friendly, and always advocating for others in need.
In short, Brigitte glorified the Lord in ways unique to her personality, talents, and gifts.
We are grateful and honored to have had her by our side. Brigitte is missed and will always be. May God bless her soul.

In the Bible, an Angel is not just holy and good and pure, but a warrior for God. In every aspect Brigitte was and still is an Angel- a blessing to all who knew her, loved her, and will remember her. God bless her beautiful family, on behalf of her nieces Tiana and Lisa Bonny.
From my few brief but wonderful encounters with Brigitte through our son’s long lasting friendship, her elegance, poise, kindness and hospitality leave a lovely impression of a beautiful person, mother, wife and friend. She was a vibrant ambassador of a life well lived.
We will miss our dear friend’s warmth, laughter and passion. Brigitte was elegant, beautiful, wise, gracious and so generous with the time and attention she devoted to family, friends and those in need. We are honored that she was our friend.

Brigitte was a “Good Soul” who had brought a message of Peace, Love and Harmony to this world. Now that she has “crossed over” she will need peace and quiet so she can safely travel to that dimension where her departed family will be waiting for her with open arms… but she left us too early.
Louis Dérose,
Ami de la famille.
She had the most incredible laugh. I loved her sense of humor. There was always something so magnetic and comforting about her.
Brigitte was a kind soul to all who had the grace to meet her and a gracious listener to those who crossed her path. She is missed so much.
