Dear Joan, Kim, and Suzette,
I hope this comment finds you all well, despite the difficult circumstances. I recently heard the news from Jim and Becky Wabish. Jim worked with Donnie at Brooks, and I wanted to reach out to express my heartfelt condolences.
I am so sorry for your loss. In the nine years I have been around him, Don was always full of laughter and brought joy to those around him. His spirit and sense of humor were truly special, and I know that he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. I will never forget how he reacted with the fake dog excrement.
Please know that I am thinking of all of you during these difficult times.
With deepest sympathy,
Gary
I was so sad the hear this news. Mr Messner was always such a kind happy man. I spent many hours at their home growing up. He will be missed by his entire family. I will miss you Dad but always remember the times we had together. I recall the many times you came home after work tired and yet you still found the energy to play catch or pick me up at my sport practices. We shared so many life experiences together as you raised me well; with guidance, laughs and enjoyment. You are now pain-free and with the ultimate Father and Savior! Sleep well until we can all meet someday again.
Barry and I are grieved to hear of the passing of our dear friend. The four of us spend many hour visiting each other over a 45 yr. span. Don was a happy man filled with a merry, joyful heart. He is now sitting with the Father above, resting in His peace. See you again one day my friend, be blessed. Barry and Nancy Roth

He will surely be missed. His distinctive laugh captured folks attention and certainly was heard around the table around family gatherings. He was such a hard worker and took extra efforts to assure things were done correctly. Even years later, people comment on his gracious offers to help. Our 2 boys (grandkids) will always remember the special overnights at their house and the trips to Washington D.C. And they always loved when he came to cheer them on at sporting events or school activities. Our hearts are heavy missing your laughter. Rest well. We love you.
