Herbert F. Burdsall, 88, of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, in his home.
Herb was born on December 7, 1936, in Philadelphia to Frederick and Helen (Fisher) Burdsall, where he was raised in the Germantown section of the city.
Following graduation from Simon Gratz High School, Herb took a job as a tool and die maker at The Budd Company in Hunting Park, where he worked for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1999.
Herb went on to marry his teenage sweetheart, Dolores Senger, in June 1959 at Our Lady Help of Christians in Abington, Pennsylvania. They were happily married for 62 years. They loved to take car trips together, especially to Florida for annual vacations to visit family.
Herb loved following Philadelphia sports teams and was especially excited to watch the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl championship in February. Being a Philly sports fan and navigating those ups and downs helped him hone his positive outlook, which he used when he could to help others see the lighter, brighter side of life, even as his own health challenges increased.
Herb is survived by his four children, Frederick (Allison), Christopher (Deborah), Dolores (Dennis) and Veronica (Anthony); a sister, Joan; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, his brothers, Gerald and Ronald; a half brother, Cy; and his parents.
Family and friends are welcome to join a celebration of Herb’s life on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main Street, Lansdale, PA 19446. Please feel free to wear your favorite Philly sports team flair in honor of Herb.
