Eileen Marie Saylor, age 89, a longtime resident of Lansdale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 1, 2025 at her home. She had been in failing health.
Born in Glenside, on April 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mabel (nee Simons) Walsh.
She worked as a Pharmacy technician at Village Pharmacy.
More than anything, Eileen was a home maker and devoted Christian who never missed Sunday services or holy days. Through regular prayer, she fostered an intimate relationship with God and scripture which sustained her throughout her long life.
She took great pride in her role as a devoted wife and mother to her five boys, a task that required considerable patience and endurance. Eileen poured her heart and soul into her family and showed her love in subtle ways day after day and hour after hour. She lived a life of rigor and routine and seemingly never tired of it.
Eileen was able to distinguish “wants” from “needs” and tantamount to that value system was the importance to provide three essentials: food, clothing, and shelter. She found great joy in cooking, cleaning, and ironing and never complained or sought help.
There was a sweetness and warmth to her voice which were assets to her when answering the phone or interacting with customers in desperate need of their medications at the pharmacy. At work, she brightened the patrons’ days and took the time to build personal relationships with each of them. On weekends, she started her day at the grocery store where she loaded a cart aimed at overstocking her pantry and refrigerator. Her love language was feeding her family and any guests with abundant and bountiful home-cooked meals that were ultimately preceded by her guests grazing around her fabled candy dish and culminated with an assortment of fresh desserts. Eileen insisted on three meals a day, requiring her children to come home for lunch even while outside at play.
Her work life and domestic demands left little time for leisure, but she did make a point to pick up the newspaper after dinner, watch a handful of wholesome family shows, and later in life, she particularly enjoyed the lessons contained in the books of Mitch Albom. Although Eileen’s presence and reassuring voice will be deeply missed, Eileen passed peacefully at home fully knowing that through good times and bad, happiness and hardship, and beginnings and ends, she gave all she had and simply and proudly did the very best she could.
She is survived by her 4 loving sons, Stephen of Lansdale, Kevin of North Wales, Timothy of Lansdale and Albert of North Wales, her 6 grandchildren, Sarah, Brian, Matthew, Evan, Avery and Sophia as well as 4 great grandchildren.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Albert, son Michael, brothers Edward and Bernard Walsh and sisters Dorothy Monte and Cecelia Stoerrle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eileen’s Funeral Mass on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA 19446, where the family will receive friends from 10 to 10:50 AM, in church, prior to mass.
