In Loving Memory

Sunset: October 22, 2025

With deep love and sadness, we share the passing of John Elwood Potts, age 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

John  passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025 peacefully after bravely, battling kidney failure for many years. and  more recently, heart failure. He was a long time resident of Telford, PA.

Born in Germantown and raised in Chalfont, John was one of seven children to the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Potts Sr.

A talented athlete in his youth, he ran track and enjoyed football and baseball, and carried that same determination throughout his life.

John is survived by his devoted wife Linda Potts, his children Colleen Church, and Michael Church, and his adored grandchildren Caleb Floyd, Gwynnevere Church, Orion Church and Olympia Torres.  He is also survived by his siblings Ted, Donna and Catheline Potts, and is preceded in death by Gary, Ronnie and Jeff Potts.

Known lovingly as “Poppy,” John cherished time with his family, especially his grandkids. He loved cookouts, music, and cheering for his favorite teams — the Eagles, the Commanders , and the Phillies. His kindness, humor, and willingness to help others will never be forgotten.  But let’s not forget his garden. He loved taking care of his flowers outside with an array of beautiful colors. Everyday no matter what, he was out there tending to them.

There will be no public services. A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations toward his medical and service expenses are deeply appreciated.

John will be remembered for his strength, generosity, and the love he shared so freely. Rest peacefully, Dad — you will forever live in our hearts.

  1. My sincere condolences to John’s family. I had the pleasure of meeting John in Dialysis. John always had a nice thing to say about anything or anybody.
Such a kind Soul, John will be missed but here in Spirit. May you all cherish his precious moments ❤️

  2. Dear Linda, Colleen, Mike, Caleb, Olympia and the rest of his family. I’m truly sorry for John’s passing. I will remember him fondly and am glad we got to see him this last week. We love you all!

  3. John was my neighbor for over 10 years. He was truly a kind and helpful man. He made our part of the neighborhood beautiful with his flower garden. His wife Linda would share the fresh basil she grew. They were never a bother but rather made me feel secure knowing they were there and willing to help if ever I had a need. He will be missed. 🌺
