Michael Thomas McGinn—12/25/2025

Michael Thomas McGinn
July 31, 1942 – December 25, 2025

Michael Thomas McGinn, age 83, of Lafayette Hill, PA, formerly of Warrington, PA; Maple Glen, PA; Newburgh, NY; Baltimore, MD; and Rehoboth, MA, was wrapped in God’s love as he passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, after spending a wonderful day surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren on their favorite day of the year, Christmas Eve.

Born on July 31, 1942, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Mike (or Mick, as he was known to many) was the beloved son of the late Thomas McGinn and Eileen McGinn (née Benson). He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and later earned his B.A. from the University of Baltimore.

Mike met the love of his life, Elizabeth “Libby” Harris, while he was stationed at Fort Holabird in Baltimore. Libby was home from college for Thanksgiving, when they met at a social event. Mike asked Libby if he could take her out for New Year’s Eve, and it all started there. Mike was deployed to South Korea the following year, and he returned to Libby in Baltimore after being discharged from the Army to pursue his degree. They were married soon after and began their new life together there.

Mike started his sales career in trucking before moving into corporate accounts for department store paper products with Champion International. His accomplished corporate career took him from Baltimore to New York, and then Philadelphia, where he founded MTM Sales Company, a manufacturer’s representative in the lighting fixture industry. He proudly and successfully operated the company for more than twenty-five years until his retirement. A natural salesman, Mike was known for his integrity, ability to connect with others and the meaningful relationships he built. His warmth and sincerity left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

Mike loved to have fun and his laugh was contagious. He was an avid golfer and a masterful joke teller. He enjoyed time on the water, reading, and he never passed up an opportunity to savor a well-made Manhattan. Known for his quick wit and love of Irish music, Mike welcomed any opportunity to sing. He performed in a folk music group and sang at his children’s weddings, bringing joy and fun to every gathering.

Mike and Libby developed cherished friendships and family relationships through their involvement at St. Alphonsus Parish and the Maple Glen community, North Hills Country Club, the Bluestone Community and St. Joseph’s Parish in Warrington, and most recently, Atria in Lafayette Hill.

He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, and hosting at his house in North Wildwood, NJ. He maintained a deep connection with his native New England and treasured visits with his family in Attleboro and Westport, MA. He especially loved Cape Cod, where he spent summers as child, vacationed with his children and grandchildren, and spent time with Jerome and Maureen O’Brien, his dear friends of more than seventy years.

Above all, Mike cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to Libby for more than 57 years, a loving father to his son, Patrick, and his daughters, Meghan and Maureen, and a proud and doting “Pop Pop” to his nine grandchildren, whom he adored. His favorite day of the year was Christmas Eve, a tradition-rich celebration that brought the entire McGinn family together. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by those he loved – sharing stories, laugher and creating memories that will endure for generations.

Mike is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Ann McGinn (née Harris), his son, Patrick Thomas McGinn (Mary Margret “Meg”); his daughters, Meghan Eileen Shaner (Matthew D. Shaner) and Maureen Elizabeth Dever (John B. Dever); and his grandchildren, Christine Eileen McGinn, Conor Michael McGinn, Brendan Patrick McGinn, Grace Staley Shaner, Konrad Michael Shaner, Penelope Ann Shaner, Anne Elizabeth Dever, Lillian Claire Dever, and John “Jack” Brendan Dever, Jr. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Matthew Harris (Cheryl); sisters-in-law Marie Mueller (née Harris) (Bryan) and Paula McGinn; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Eileen McGinn; his sister, Charlotte Toddings (née McGinn); his brother, David McGinn; and his parents-in-law, Joseph and Marie Harris (née Staley).

Michael Thomas McGinn will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family and friends, his pride in service, his generosity and his deep faith in God. His warmth, humor and gentle presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

May his voice be carried on the breeze,

His stories linger in our homes,

His laughter warm our memories

Like a hearth on winter’s night.

May angels greet him at the door

And saints sing him safely home.
