Alfonso G. DiDonato Jr. died on September 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family during his last days.

Alfonso was known by many different names by the many people who came into his life.  Dad, Pop, Junior, Mr. D, Chief, Slim, and PopPop. He was born and raised by Alfonso Sr. and Josephine DiDonato in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, where he remained until he enlisted in the marines during the Korean War. After his service he returned to Germantown and started his family until he had a house built on Ivy Lane in Upper Gwynedd where he lived for the past fifty seven years. 

As one of six children, Alfonso was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Smith) DiDonato, brothers Alfred and Johnny, sisters Dina and Angie. He is survived by his sister, Millie, along with his children Steve (Lynn) DiDonato, Dave DiDonato, Alfonse (Debbie) DiDonato, and Marian (Dave) Slaughter. His eight grandchildren, Danny, Mike, Tim, Tiffany, AJ, Matt, Megan, and Colleen and eight great grandkids.

Pop enjoyed spending years in Ocean City, NJ, with his family and his many friends of his extended shore family. He loved walking to the boardwalk and find a bench to talk to people he would meet.

Relatives and friends are invited to Pop’s Viewing at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Landsdale, Pa. 19446 on Friday, September 15, between 9-10:45 am. This will be followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am. Pop will be buried alongside his wife Margie, at St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chafont, PA.
