Albert (Al) Vincent Pauzano–8/30/2023

Albert Vincent Pauzano (Al, Bert, Peanut) died on August 30, 2023, in Cape May Court House, New Jersey, at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family in his last days.

Al was born January 9, 1946, to Albert and Jean Pauzano and was raised in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and spent his youth playing sports with his friends at Happy Hollow playground. He attended Saint Joseph’s Prep and graduated from North Catholic High School in 1963. He then attended Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales in Center Valley, PA where he was a member of the CRABS fraternity and was also in the inaugural class there. He graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a bachelor’s degree in history.

Al’s loyal commitment to his family was the proudest measure of his life.  Al met his true love Janet at Avalon’s Bongo Room and they married in 1970. Their 53 year marriage was a testament to their love and care for each other, in sickness and in health. They shared their lives together as active members of Saint Teresa of Avila parish in Trooper, PA, moved to Lansdale, PA, in their later years and then finally retired to Cape May Court House, NJ where they most loved the quiet months of their favorite beach towns of Avalon and Stone Harbor and watching the ocean together. Al also loved Notre Dame football and always shared a meaningful Vince Lombardi quote to inspire when needed.

Al served a long and dedicated 31-year career as an Archdiocese of Philadelphia Catholic School teacher and coach. He lived and breathed his vocation in these roles, coaching football and serving as a disciplinarian and history teacher at Bishop Kenrick High School in Norristown, PA. He would later serve in administration, teaching and coaching roles at St. Pius X High School, Cardinal O’Hara High School, St. Joseph’s Preparatory High School, and his final years as a history teacher at Lansdale Catholic HS. He has been remembered by his students for his thoughtful speeches about life and working hard. Al retired from teaching in 2003 but he always kept in touch with his students, providing guidance and mentoring to his students through the years. One of the highlights of Al’s years of service came in 2007 when he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Michael Petrone Foundation, an organization started for one of his former students.

Al is survived by Janet, his dedicated wife of 53 years who always took such good care of him, his daughter, Nicole (Slamm), son Michael (Brigitte) and daughter, Julie (Stephen Deans) as well as his brother, Louis Pauzano (RoseAnne) of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Will, Olivia, Amalia, Meredith, and Alexander. Nothing made Al happier than watching and following his grandchildren’s sports and activities and hearing how they did in school. He was the proudest Papa and was their mentor and guide too!

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Al’s Viewing on Friday Evening, September 8, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446, and a second Viewing on Saturday Morning, September 9, 2023, also at St. Stanislaus, from 9:00 to 10:15 AM. Al’s Mass of Christian Burial will take place immediately following at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, PA

In remembrance of Al, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the following:  Michael Petrone Foundation (PO Box 242, Kulpsville, PA 19443) or Gift of Life Donor Program (www.donors1.org). The family would also like to thank the dedicated and compassionate doctors and nurses who cared for Al through the years.
