Patrick was a devout baseball fan from a very young age. He followed the A’s until they moved in 1954, then followed the Phillies ever since. As an adult he added the Flyers, becoming a season ticket holder for many years. He was a devoted father umpiring Little League games, participating in Indian Guides and serving on the board of the North Penn Squires.

He inherited a love of model railroading from his father in law and continued the hobby into his 80s.

Patrick retired at the age of 62 and delivered auto parts part time for the next 20 years, doing what he loved most, driving around meeting people at every stop. During those years he and his wife traveled throughout the United States and Europe.
