Michael White—7/31/2021

Michael White, of Lansdale, Pa., age 82, died peacefully on Saturday, July 31, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, and children, Chris, Theresa and Matthew, and 6 grandchildren.

He was born in Philadelphia Pa., and lived his childhood in Oxford Village where he attended St. Martin De Porres Elementary School and Father Judge High School. He has 2 siblings, Kathleen and Mary Lou.

He continued his education at Millersville State Teachers College where upon graduation he entered the Army. He served in East Berlin from 1961-1964. He received an honorable discharge, Army of Occupation Medal, and achieved the status of “Sharp Shooter” for an M-14 Rifle.

Michael White taught for the North Penn School District for 20+ years in the Lansdale area

He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, golfer and devout Catholic who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also had his own part-time florist business, in which he mainly did weddings. He served as a tour guide for Saint Peter and Paul Basilica in Philadelphia. Known for having a monstrous sweet tooth, he would not pass up any chocolate cookie, even if one was not offered to him. A very curious person when it came to other people he was. He could be found indulging that curiosity by asking probing questions of that person—just to get to know them better. We joked with him that he was having a press conference or an interview for “60 Minutes.”

He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446, where the family will receive friends in the Church Narthex prior to Mass, beginning at 9:30. Burial will be a Saint John Neumann Cemetery followed by a reception at Bacco Italian Restaurant. In lieu of flowers we ask that a donation be made to Parkinsons and/or Alzheimer’s Research Foundations.
