Flora “Sissy” Roos died peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2021. She was 87. She was a resident of Elm Terrace Gardens at the time. She was the loving wife of the late James F. Roos.
Sissy was a resident of Lansdale, Pa., for most of her life. She was a graduate of Lansdale High School and a long time parishioner of St. Stanislaus church.
Among other things, Sissy worked in the cafeteria of Lansdale Catholic High School. She also worked as a store associate and receptionist for Clemens Markets for many years. After retiring from Clemens, she did excellent work at Framer’s Workroom in Lansdale.
Sissy mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She could really burn up the phone lines (having been an operator for Bell Telephone as well.) She enjoyed attending auctions, flea markets and antiquing. She loved walking with her friends and then having a meal to make sure all those calories were replaced. She was an avid crossword puzzle solver and had a life-long love of horses, which she jumped in competition in her younger years. Her horse, Soldier Boy, was never far from her thoughts. She also made a mean eggnog which was her way of spreading holiday “cheer” to friends and family.
She is survived by three children: Jahn Landis (and husband Robert) of Lansdale, PA, James Roos (and wife Lisa) of Ontario, CA and Charles Roos of Huntingdon Valley, PA. In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren: Amanda Tomlinson (and husband Jack), Landon Roos and Aerin Roos. She is also survived by one brother, Thomas Smith (and wife Bobbe) of Norristown, PA. She was pre-deceased by two brothers and one sister.
Interment services will be private at a later date. Donations in Sissy’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
