Joseph E. Finney—9/29/2020

Joseph E. Finney, 73, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, after a long battle with lung cancer. Joe was born on September 27, 1947, in Philadelphia and was the oldest of four children. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary Lynn (Cebra) and three loving daughters Christine (Durrell) Wike, Jessica (Mark) Cane, and Sarah (Matthew) Miller. He is the beloved Pop Pop to Lindsay and Gabrielle Wike and Carmella, Emily and Mark Cane.

He graduated from LaSalle University and retired from PECO Energy after over 30 years of employment. He kept busy with numerous side jobs throughout his life. Even after his retirement from PECO he worked for over 15 years as a bus driver for North Penn School District. 

Joe was an outgoing, caring and lovable figure in the community. He touched the lives of not only his family but the many people he met throughout his careers, hobbies, and involvement in his daughters’ and then grandchildren’s activities. Joe enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his shore house in Ocean City, New Jersey. He will be remembered as a true family man; a friendly, loyal and genuine person.

A viewing will be held Tuesday evening, October 6, 2020, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446. On Wednesday morning, October 7, 2020, a second viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 am at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446. The funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am. Covid restrictions will be enforced but all are welcome to attend.
