Jeanne D. Stead–3/12/2024

Jeanne D. Stead, age 89, of Colmar, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2024. She had been in failing health.

Born in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, PA, on July 25, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Francis Marshall and Kathryn (nee McGann) Dillman. She was the middle of four children, between her older sister Frances and twin younger brothers, Jack and Marshall.

With a zest for life that never abated, to her parents’ dismay, she joined the United States Naval Reserve in the early 1950s, and it was there that she met her future husband, Joseph Stead. The two were married on April 29, 1961 in Roxborough, PA.

Though she began life in Roxborough, she later lived in Norfolk, VA, Warminster, PA and Colmar, PA.

Jeanne’s greatest love was for her family, but she also enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, crafts and her many pets.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheri Stead and her husband Douglas Pricer of Somerset, NJ; sons, Kevin Stead of Warminster, PA and Tracy Stead and his wife Kimberly of Colmar, PA; step-daughter, Eileen Gregury and her husband John of Stafford, VA; grandchildren, Kevin Stead, Jr, Colin Stead, Andrew Stead and Kate Gregury, great grandchildren Arianna, Shayla, Isabella, Lillian, Eli, Nikolas and Mille as well as one daughter-in-law, Lynor Stead.

In addition to her parents, siblings and her husband, Jeanne was preceded in death by her stepsons, Thomas Stead, Joseph Stead (husband of Lynor) and James Stead in addition to her granddaughter Pamela Marmolejos.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jeanne’s Funeral Service on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main Street, Lansdale, PA 19446. There will be a receiving time from 10:30 to 11:30 am, followed promptly by a period of remarks.

Jeanne will later be interred with her beloved husband in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA in a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jeanne’s name can be made to the Buck’s County SPCA or to your local Animal Shelter.
