Marianne F. Kratz (nee Luther), 93, passed away at home Monday, January 31 st . Born in Bridgeport, PA on August 31, 1928, Marianne spent most of her adult life residing in Lansdale borough with her beloved husband, Owen.
In her younger years, Marianne loved to sew. She often stitched blankets, sweatshirts, towels, tote bags, and table runners for her family. She was a wiz at whipping up a batch of homemade play dough and loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and making crafts with them.
Marianne was also a fantastic cook and made the best apple pie. She often hosted family dinners and always made sure her seat at the table was closest to the kitchen.
Professionally, Marianne worked at the Lansdale Library for many years. She was an avid reader and loved books, magazines, and newspapers. Her love of words also lent itself to her being an excellent crossword puzzle solver. Additionally, Marianne spent some time working at The Mitre Box, a framing company in Lansdale borough.
Marianne was a devout Catholic and long-time parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in Lansdale. Her greatest joy was her family and she gave freely and generously to those in her life.
She is survived by her sister, Margie Petticone of Lansdale and her brother, John Luther, of Warminster; her son, Richard Kratz (Sue), daughter Ellen Kratz, son Timothy Kratz, and daughter Elizabeth Greim. She was lovingly known as “Mom-Mom” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Megan Galeone, Avery Hand, Aidan Greim, Luke Greim, Cody Greim, Grace Kahmer, and Griffin Kahmer. Marianne is preceded in death by her husband, Owen Kratz, her mother, Margaret Luther, and her father, Joseph Luther. She is also preceded in death by her sister Helen Pettine, brother Joseph Luther, Jr., and brother Bernard Luther.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave and Main Street, in Lansdale with a viewing at 12:30 and a mass to follow. Burial will take place immediately after at Whitemarsh Cemetary in Horsham, PA. A luncheon will follow the interment at R&S Keystone Diner in Telford. All are invited to attend.
