MaryAnn Adelina Lewis (Rota), age 82, of Lansdale died peacefully at home on Friday, April 16, 2021. MaryAnn was diagnosed and beat breast cancer in 2008. In 2017 she then endured a hard fought, four year battle with metastatic breast cancer, until she was called by our Lord to join him, her beloved daughter Kathryn Renee (1992), and the many family and friends that have gone before her.
MaryAnn’s parents Pasquale and Carmela (DiBona) Rota were born in Italy and immigrated to
America where they met, married and raised their tight knit family in the wonderful neighborhood of Germantown, PA. The youngest of ten children, she is survived by her brother Anthony and his wife, Joan, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. We fondly remember her departed siblings, Henry, Viola, Victoria (Alex), Vincent (Viola), Frank (Betty), Henry (Mary), Theresa (Carl), and Amedio (Shirley).
MaryAnn graduated from Little Flower High School and was working as a Keypunch Operator when she was introduced by her brother Amedio, to the love of her life, James A. Lewis. The “Strangers in the Night” were married in October 28, 1961, and immediately started their own tight knit family of six children. After a few years they moved to Lansdale to make their homestead. Raised with an Italian Roman Catholic upbringing, family and church were always part of her life. MaryAnn prepared many family gatherings, celebrations, and reunions and was an active member of St Stanislaus parish and member of the Rosary Society. In addition to her devotion to the Blessed Mother, MaryAnn’s faith was strong and she prayed to the saints, Padre Pio, St Elizabeth Ann Seton, and St Jude to name a few. In addition to raising six children, and all it entailed, MaryAnn worked as a cashier at A&P and then Super Fresh. Upon her retirement, MaryAnn emphatically enjoyed spending quality time with her growing family. Reading, gardening, dining, traveling and puzzles were some of her favorite pastimes.
MaryAnn is survived by her spouse, James, of 60 years and their children’s families. Jim and wife Deb got the marvelous ball rolling by giving her Jason, Kathryn, Renee, James Daniel. Lisa (Brouse) and her husband, David, were blessed to have Mom Mom “day care” for Alex and Adelina. Chris and his wife, Amy, brought her joy with Christopher, Ryan, and Aaron. Billie’s sunshine is Brianna and Branden. And Micheal and his wife, Jenna, made her smile with Michael, Emma, and Anthony. As the years past and the grandchildren grew Mom Mom welcomed the third generation with Blaze and Karrilyn (Jason), Brady (Bria and Chris), Theo (Kathryn and Eric), and Nora and Henry (Alex and Tori).
The Lewis’ will receive family and friends at Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale, PA on Thursday, April 22, from 9:30 – 10:30. A mass of Christian Burial will follow.
