Donald James Etter–7/1/2025

Donald James Etter, age 52, of Lansdale passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born on May 13, 1973, in Abington, Pa., he was the son of the late William F. Etter, who passed away in April of 2016, and Petronella “Nell” (nee Hendriksen) Etter.

Donald grew up first in Glenside, Pa., and later in Lansdale, Pa. He attended North Penn High School and participated in youth activities at Lansdale Presbyterian Church.

As a young boy he played baseball and one of his favorite childhood memories was going to ball games with his Grandpop Etter.

In 2008 he married his loving wife Joanna Etter.

Don was employed at Hennings Market in Harleysville, Pa., where he enjoyed being part of a close knit team of co-workers with whom he also became close friends. Being part of the Hennings family meant a lot to him.The most important and joyful part of Don’s life was taking care of his children and supporting them in their sporting events and other activities. He loved taking his family to Phillies games, the North Carolina beaches, and Disney World.

He is survived by his wife, Joanna Marie (nee Dziekan) Etter, step-son Andrew Cavanaugh, son Liam Etter, daughter Rhyan Etter, son Dean Etter, mother Nell Etter, brother James Etter (wife Amy Brennan) of Bremerton, WA, brother Bill Etter (wife Christie) of Northampton, PA, and Rachel Etter (husband Alex Dornburg) of Concord, NC, and his in-laws, Richard and Rita Dziekan.

He is predeceased by his son, baby Tristan Etter, brother Douglas Etter, father William Etter and all of his beloved grandparents.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 10 to 11 AM at Lansdale Presbyterian Church, 450 Oak Park Rd, Hatfield, Pa., 19440 and attend Don’s Funeral Service at 11 AM.

Burial will be private.

The family would like to especially thank the Mater Dei Catholic School family, the dear friends of Lansdale Presbyterian Church, La Salle College High School, and the Dziekan family’s gracious and generous neighbors for all of the loving support they have extended to Don and his family during his time of need.

  1. Joanna and Liam, I am very sorry for your loss. Tough to find the right words right now but I do know he fought the good fight! He is at peace now!
