  1. I remember several long, difficult hikes and Len always kept going.
I remember Len doing solo AT hikes with only minimal supplies.
I remember Len’s generosity in giving gifs and tickets on AMC hikes.
His positive attitude and gentle personality are his legacy.

  2. I was lucky to hike with Len on many occasions with the AMC. Len was low key and humble in talking about all the hikes he had done and generously gave advice about becoming a better hiker when asked. He wasn’t one to boast about his skills and I was always amazed to see where all his travels took him. Len you were a great person to hike with. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with me. I will miss you.
    Rest in Peace.

  3. I will always treasure the wonderful and memorial times I spent with Len. I am sorry I did not meet him sooner and travel on the Appalachian Trail with him. We shared many walks along the Delaware Canal. Also we met at local places for lunch and dinner. He was always a pleasure to be around.

  4. Len was always a true gentle man. Soft spoken, downplayed his own remarkable achievements, kind and generous. We will miss you.

  5. I recall when I met Len on an AMC hike, he intended to hike all 365 days that year. What an incredible aspiration, and what I fine person I found him to be! His AMC family will miss him. Condolences to Len’s family and friends. Tammy Brown

  6. I’m deeply saddened by the loss of Len, my dear friend Turtle 77. We spent ten years hiking the Appalachian Trail with the Appalachian Mountain Club, sharing stories, meals, and countless memories. He gave me my trail name, Flash, a treasure I’ll always carry. Len’s warmth and wisdom made every journey special. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Rest in peace,
    Turtle 77.
