Eileen DeVico—9/23/25

Eileen DeVico passed peacefully September 23, 2025, in her sleep at 94 years of age.

She was born and raised in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia and eventually moved in with her son and family, later in life in Lansdale.

Eileen is survived by her son Robert (Bobby) J. DeVico, Jr, (Heather), Grandchildren: Kiley, Robert (RJ) J. DeVico, III and Grady; Sisters: Susann O’Connor, Kathleen John (Paul) and many Nieces & Nephews and Grandnieces and and Grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert J. DeVico, Sr.; Mother Catherine (Campbell) and Father John O’Grady; brother, The Honorable John J. O’Grady, Jr., brothers-in-law: Nicholas DeVico, James O’Connor, Ray Samar (Margaret), Jack Samar (Mary), Bob Samar (Harriet), sister-in-law: Dolores Faione, Margaret Casher (John), Hellen Mellet (Franny) and Marian Darragh (James).

After graduating West Catholic Girls High School in West Philadelphia, Eileen worked for Dr. Flanighan as a dental assistant. She then went to Burroughs as a manager assistant. While raising her only son, she managed the cafeteria at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. She later returned to dentistry working for Dr. Domenic Baglivo, Jr.

Eileen had a passion for taking pictures. From her son’s basketball or football games to every family event—or sometimes simply just because you walked in the door. There were always more than doubles, so many people received a copy handed or sent to them.

She loved to cook and especially bake. Eileen’s brownies were a stapled favorite at every family event or back yard BBQ. If it was a special event, you were lucky enough to have Eileen’s Chocolate Chip Cake.

Eileen loved to travel. As a young woman she visited many states with her girlfriends. She has made numerous trips to Ireland and, after her husband passed, she visited many European countries with friends and family. Eileen’s most beloved trips were her 3-week trip to Ireland with her husband (his first trip) for their 25th wedding anniversary and her trip to Rome with her son, daughter-in-law, and sister for the Canonization of Saint Katherine Drexel.

Her favorite place close to home was the beach. She particularly loved Stone Harbor and spent many hours on 96th Street shopping. “Shopping,” she’d say, “was always better ‘down the shore.’”

Eileen was loved by everyone who walked through her door in Overbrook. There was always a hug and an extra plate ready to be put on the table for anyone who needed it.

Her dining room table was a special place where many memories were had, not just eating; there were laughs, tears and strong bonds. Her dining room was so important, when she moved to Delaware County, the only requirement of house hunting was that the dining room furniture was able to fit.

Eileen loved animals, cats and birds especially. She always loved “her pigeons” and would save bread crust every day to toss in the alleyway. She would always give her son a scowl (followed by a smile) when he would tease her by calling the pigeons “rats with wings.”

Eileen’s Viewing will take place on Wednesday evening, October 1, 2025, from 6 to 9 PM, at Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446.

A second Viewing will take place Thursday morning, October 2, 2025, from 9 to 10:45 AM, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA 19446, and will be followed by Eileen’s Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.

Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Delaware County.

The most precious gift in life to Eileen were her grandchildren: Kiley, RJ and Grady. She adored them with all her heart and taught them how to love and care for others. They learned well and returned that love to their Nana in her time of need. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mater Dei Catholic School to honor Eileen’s strong belief of the Catholic Faith,

or Sea Isle City Cats to honor her love of all cats.

Blessed is the woman who lets
the Lord be her guiding hand,
whose faith brings her courage,
whose wisdom comes from God,
and whose family still
stands and honors her.”

  1. Whenever I was blessed to see your Mom, was a great day!
She always remembered me and we sat and talked. Loved it,I loved her. She was a lovely, kind, sweet woman. She will be missed! May
God Bless her family. Rest in Peace Eileen.
    Love to all

  2. Bob, I spent a wonderful half hour talking (well listening!) to your mom at an event at Mater Dei. What a love! Her enthusiasm, sense of humor, and warmth was addicting! She glowed when talking about her 3 beloved grands, almost as much as her colorful descriptions of several of your classic “Bobby adventures”
She was a shiny gem, Bob, whose light will glow in heaven! Our love to you and Heather and your family.
    Cynthia and Stan
