Joseph John Gregory Warnas, age 82, of Sellersville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Born in Philadelphia, on March 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Joseph George Warnas and Mary Agnes (nee Moser) Warnas.
He was married on June 24, 2006, to the late Georgenne M. Kesen-Warnas at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, PA.
Georgenne passed away on November 23, 2023.
Joseph spent his lower school years at St. Bonaventure Grade School in Philadelphia, and both Little Flower High School and Lansdale Catholic High School, graduating in 1961.
He enrolled in the Philadelphia Police Academy at age 18. He served as a police officer and later went on to work with the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), where he operated a trackless trolley and operated buses.
Joseph served briefly with the Pennsylvania National Guard.
An avid animal lover, Joseph enjoyed visiting Pennsylvania State Parks and taking long drives with his trusted companion, Katie, a black Labrador.
He enjoyed trips to the New Jersey shore and taking New Jersey transit to New York City. He loved reading about Philadelphia history and was considered a walking encyclopedia.
Joseph was a member of American Legion post # 255. He was awarded a certificate of Achievement for more than 50 years of dedication and service to the Philadelphia Lodge # 5 Fraternal Order of Police and the Philadelphia Police Department.
Surviving is his loving brother, Gerald Michael Warnas (Mary Poust-Warnas), his brother-in-law Paul French Sr (Betty), and police partners and friends, Joseph Murphy and Linn Goldblack. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families: Michael J. Warnas, Suzanne M. Warnas-McCarney (Keith), Justin P. Warnas (wife Kathy and children Lydia, Henry, and Jack), Frederick R. Poust III, (wife Jennifer and their children, Hannah and Brett Poust) and Theresa Kesen-Vogeler, (husband Matt, and children, April, Patty, and Richard Kesen.)
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joseph’s Funeral Mass on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA, with Visitation in Church prior to Mass from 9:30 to 10:20 am.Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, 3797 County Line Road, Chalfont, Pa.
