M. Patricia Bakey McGowan, age 73, passed away at her home in North Wales on March 17, 2026.
Born in Shenandoah, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Mary (nee Wright) Bakey.
She was a graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School in Fountain Springs, PA.
Pat went on to earn a Bachelors Degree at Immaculata College in Chester County.
Her career included working for various hospitals over the years in Pennsylvania and Maryland as a nutritionists and later as a Diabetic Educator.
Pat enjoyed travelling, cooking, and spending time with friends, both old and new.
She was a longtime member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lansdale.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded by her husband Thomas McGowan in 2010 and her companion Bob Zemanek in 2026.
Surviving are her sister-in-law Annie Murphy and her husband Frank, daughter-in-law Heather Heiland and her husband Elmer, son-in-law Thomas McGowan and his wife Tracy, as well as many cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446, where there will be a receiving time in the Church Narthex from 9:30 to 10:20 AM.
Interment will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Annunciation Cemetery, Shenandoah PA.
In lieu of flowers donations in Pat’s name can be made to the Shenandoah Public Library, 15 West Washington Street, Shenandoah, PA 17976 or Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446.
I worked with Pat at Paoli Hospital for many years. You can count on her knowledge as a diabetes educator but mostly her wonder smile and making people feel they can live a wonderful full life with the diagnosis of diabetes.
