Lewis F. Reid—6/27/2023

Lewis F. Reid, of Lansdale, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. He was 73.

Born on July 27, 1949, in Philadelphia, Lew was the youngest of Edward William and Doris Norma (Talmon) Reid’s three children. As a young man, he taught himself the art of restoring antique and classic cars; this led to a lengthy career elevating them to national-level prize-winning masterpieces. He completed vehicles for many individual clients as well as Tastykake and McCaffrey’s Food Markets. Lew worked for many years at Glazier’s Mustang Barn in Souderton and also ran his own business. Over time, Lew passed on his knowledge to his fellow enthusiasts to help ensure that top-notch restorations continue into the future. All the while, Lew’s keen sense of humor kept those around him laughing.

He is survived by his brother, Edward (Teresa), of Plantation, FL; his brother-in-law, Dennis Haines, of Spruce Head, ME; and his nephew, Michael Haines (Deborah), of Warminster, PA. Lew was predeceased by his parents as well as his stepfather, E. Richard Evans, of Pembroke Pines, FL, and his sister, Marilyn Haines, of Spruce Head, ME.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue in Lansdale, PA, on Thursday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will begin in church at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery. Memorial contributions in Lew’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
